Texas Holdem Poker

It is absolutely sure that Texas Holdem Poker is the most popular variation of Poker today. A lot of people are keen on playing it and it is the most preferred poker game in the online poker rooms. Ten players can play at a time in Texas Holdem Poker. In the beginning each of them gets two down cards followed by five community cards. the community cards are dealt face-up in the center of the table and are used by all players. In the beginning of the game of Texas Holdem Poker the two players directly to the left of the dealer must post "blinds". To post 'blind' means to place a bet before getting cards. This is done to ensure that every winning hand wins some money. Everyone has to post blinds at some point in the game since the dealer button moves on every game round. The player to the immediate left of the dealer button posts the "small blind". It is equal to half of the minimum stake. The player to the left of the small blind posts the "big blind". It is equal to the amount of the minimum stake. After the blinds, first cards are dealt and every player gets two cards face down. These cards are called pocket cards. The first round of betting begins with the player immediately to the left of the big blind. It is continuing in a clockwise direction around the table. Every player can choose if to fold, call or raise. Raising is possible by the lower table stake only.

After the first round of betting are dealt three more cards, face up in the middle of the table. These cards are called the flop cards. They are "community" cards and can be used by all Texas Holdem Poker players to make up their best possible hand. Then second round of betting follows. This one is carried out exactly as the first betting round.

When the second round of betting is over, a fourth "community" card is dealt face up in the middle of the table. This is also known as the "Turn card". Then occurs a third round of betting. The difference between this round of betting and the two before this is that raising is possible by the higher table stake. Finally, a fifth and final "community" card is dealt. It is named "River card" and is followed by a fourth and final round of betting.

When the final betting round is finished, the best five-card hand is determined. Each Texas Holdem Poker player can use both the pocket cards and the community cards to make up the best possible hand. The player with the best five-card poker hand wins the pot. In Texas Holdem Poker it is also possible some players to split the pot if they have the same hand. In the rare case of the best hand formed of community cards only, the pot is divided between all the players left in the pot at the showdown.

If you see that you are going to lose, and do not want to show your cards, you can Muck. To Muck means to give up your hand and lose the pot. Otherwise you can Show to compare your hand with others. When a hand is completed and the pot taken by the winner, the dealer button is moved one player to the left. Then the next hand begins.

If it happens a player to run out of chips during the course of a hand, he does not have to fold. In that case the player can choose to be All-in. When you are all-in, you call all your chips and the pot is divided into the main pot and side pot. All succeeding chips are hereafter added to the side pot. At the showdown if the "All-in" player does not have a winning hand, both the side pot and the main pot go to the winning hand. But if it happens at the showdown the "All-in" player to possess a winning hand, the main pot goes to the "All-in" player, and the side pot goes to the next best hand. If several players decide to go All-in, multiple side pots are created. The pots are divided according to hand and order in which the players went All-in.
